Malta’s Prime Minister, Robert Abela, wished a happy birthday to his father, who also happens to be a former President of Malta, through a short social media message “Awguri Pa”.

On April 22nd, George Abela celebrated his 75th birthday.

The President Emeritus of Malta, who served as the country’s eighth President from 2008 to 2014, was nominated for the position and appointed by Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi, making history as the first ever President to be appointed from an opposing party.

This has only happened once in the country’s history.

On behalf of the MaltaDaily team, we would like to extend our warmest birthday wishes to the former President and hope he had a wonderful day celebrating with his loved ones.
