MICHELIN’s inspectors found three new restaurants worthy of a place in the Guide. Newcomers Marea in Kalkara, AKI in Valletta and Rebekah’s in Mellieha placed in the new additions alongside Grain Street.

In terms of MICHELIN stars, the five restaurants which were awarded in 2021 all retain their Star Status for another year. These are Under Grain, Noni and ION – The Harbour in Valletta, De Mondion in Mdina and Bahia in Balzan.

Grain Street was awarded a MICHELIN Bib Gourmand for its good quality and its good value cooking. It joins the three other restaurants who all retain their Bib Gourmand distinctions – Terrone, Rubino, and Commando.

The fact that any of these restaurants were mentioned in this renowned guide highlights Malta’s plentiful selection of delicious cuisine, all accompanied by excellent service and scenic dining locations.

“If I had to speak objectively, I can never glorify this person,” Cutajar on Daphne Caruana Galizia

"If I had to speak objectively, I can never glorify this person," Cutajar on Daphne Caruana Galizia
Feb 23 2022 Share

In Malta Daily’s latest episode of The Interview with Fabian Demicoli’, Labour MP & candidate Rosianne Cutajar stated that some time after she was elected Qormi mayor in 2012, Daphne Caruana Galizia had published stories that she provided sexual services in Sicily.

Being 22 years of age at that time, she highlighted how such stories were what one would call ‘baptism by fire’ and how difficult it was to share such news with her parents. Cutajar stated that Caruana Galizia’s works caused her a lot of pain with stories about her parents and friends. She recalled that one friend in particular was as a victim of ‘porn revenge’, revealing that she was not the only one who suffered trauma from being a target of Daphne Caruana Galizia.

University debate between Robert Abela and Bernard Grech confirmed
Feb 23 2022 Share

Prime Minister Robert Abela has confirmed that there will be a debate between the party leaders, starting with one at the University of Malta.

Newsroom Lovin Malta was informed that the Prime Minister accepted the request and promised that it will not be the only one during the month-long campaign.

Abela will be up against the Opposition’s Bernard Grech, both of whom will be contesting in the election on the 5th district. Leadership debates are not a common occurrence in Malta, with the last live debate occurring in 2017 between Joseph Muscat and Simon Busuttil.

As rallies push forth the proposals by all parties, live debates put the leaders under pressure as their ideas are challenged directly by the opposition.

Robert Abela also revealed that there will be more debates during the entire campaign and will not only feature him and the Opposition leader. More details on the debate are still set to be revealed.

Following the election announcement, calls for a sit-down conversation with Maltese podcaster Jon Mallia acquired media attention, as Bernard Grech accepted the invitation. Robert Abela has not yet commented on this.

In an exclusive first sit-down interview since her resignation, MP & Labour candidate Rosianne Cutajar said that she was the target of many unjust attacks on her, some of which due to her being a female politician.

Cutajar stated that half-truths are sometimes worse than lies and that “the media knows that when you insert a personal element, especially when there is a female politician, the story will sell more.” She went on to express that the choice of certain photos and “clickbait titles” were unfair on her and other female politicians.

During the interview, she called on the media to shoulder the responsibility they carry in the face of discrimination, highlighting that it should perpetuate and reflect certain stereotypes and inequalities in society and be an instrument of change in mentality.

Despite such attacks, the Labour MP stated that when she chose to step aside, she still wanted to contribute politically.
