The Masked Singer Malta is a singing competition based on the Korean format King of Masked Singer.

The performers are celebrities wearing head-to-toe costumes that hide their true identity from the Host, the audience, the panelists, called ‘The Detectives’, and even their fellow contestants.

The format will see multiple masked local celebrities performing in front of The Detectives with the ultimate aim of staying in the programme throughout all the phases and concealing their identity until the end.

To make things more interesting, hints are given along the way to help The Detectives, the audience, and the viewers guess who is behind the costume.

This ‘who-sung-it’ television competition sees local stars Valentina Rossi, Ryan and Josmar, and Amber as The Detectives, with other guest Detectives joining the fun throughout the series.

The Masked Singer Malta will air every Thursday at 21:15 on Television Malta, starting from Thursday 24th April.

The Masked Singer is locally produced by greatt Company Limited and co-produced/licensed by Fremantle Media.

Big Brother Malta jumped onto the toy AI lookalike trend, which generates toy versions of users into uncannily similar figures.

The semifinalists all got a toy figure – with Gabriel getting a #1 Eurovision Fan T-shirt, Jay a UK flag, Chanelle a ‘Sponsor’ flag, Karl a Power Clean and a number of weights, and Ira a teddy-bear hairband.

Hosts Ryan and Josmar also got figures, along with their adorable pet dog. Their figures however were not as similar, with commenters highlighting this outright.

Deputy Prime Minister Ian Borg and Minister for Transport, Infrastructure, and Public Works Chris Bonett officially launched the Vittoriosa City Square Regeneration Project in Birgu.

With an investment of over €3 million, the historic square has been revitalised with modern infrastructure, enhanced accessibility, and the preservation of its rich cultural heritage.

Led by Infrastructure Malta (IM) in collaboration with the Malta Tourism Authority (MTA), the project aims to boost Birgu’s status as a cultural and tourism hub. Key upgrades included the relocation of underground utilities and a redesign of the square to prioritise pedestrian access over vehicles.

The materials and design elements were carefully selected to complement the square’s historical character.

Ian Borg expressed gratitude to all involved, including the Birgu Local Council, and urged residents and visitors to continue making the square a vibrant part of Maltese life.

He emphasised that such projects are integral to the country’s Vision for Malta 2050, improving both tourism and the local quality of life.

Minister Bonett highlighted how the project successfully blends modern infrastructure with historical preservation, transforming the square into a lively, sustainable public space. Despite challenges related to the area’s history, the square now serves as a dynamic community hub.

Birgu Mayor John Boxall thanked the government for supporting this long-awaited project.

The regeneration works included replacing drinking water pipes, installing urban furniture and trees, creating a new rainwater system, removing overhead cables, and preparing for future electric vehicle charging stations.

Modern lighting and bicycle stands were also added to promote sustainability.

The event was attended by Infrastructure Malta CEO Steve Ellul and Malta Tourism Authority CEO Carlo Micallef.
