This brings the ‘total to 7.6 tonnes of tyres from this location, equalling 438 tyres. The tyres are all recycled.’

The NGO also highlighted the negative effects on the marine environment, with the worst being the leaching chemicals and toxins into the water over time as they slowly degrade..

More rain and wind expected this week with one sunny Wednesday

More rain and wind expected this week with one sunny Wednesday
Apr 16 2023 Share

According to the current weather forecasts for this upcoming week in Malta, we should expect more of today’s windy weather and rain showers for these upcoming six days.

Only Wednesday 19th April is expected to clear the skies and bring some well needed sunlight our islands are known for.

However, this is smack in the middle of days with cloudy and windy weather as well as isolated rain showers here and there. Temperatures are set to feel between 18 and 20 degrees Celsius.

Wind forces are also expected to reach up towards Forces 5 and 6 as the week progresses. Alas, our early summer vibes are not yet green-lit.

Still, this has not stopped many from already taking a dip into Malta and Gozo’s many beaches. Are you one of them?

FBI warns against charging phones from public stations

FBI warns against charging phones from public stations
Apr 16 2023 Share

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has re-issued warnings against using public charging ports in places such as airports, malls and hotels due to malware threats.

‘Bad actors have figured out ways to use public USB ports to introduce malware and monitoring software onto devices’ the FBI Denver posted to Twitter.

The FBI went on to urge the public to carry their own respective charger and USB Cord or to use an electrical outlet instead. This practice of hacking through such public charging ports was termed ‘juice jacking’, and it is not the first time it has been warned against.

The term was coined back in 2011 after researchers created a charging station to show the potential for hacking at kiosks. The FBI released similar warnings in 2021.

It is actually not clear how common this threat is but it has been suggested that access to a person’s phone through juice jacking can leave personal data vulnerable.
