Malta Premier League chairman and former Prime Minister Joseph Muscat advocates for incorporating the Maltese Falcon into a fresh logo representing the nation’s top football league.

Muscat, alongside the Malta Football Association, revealed plans for a public call to redesign the league’s brand identity. This initiative, contentious for its proposal to replace the traditional league with a split season, aims to establish a logo that aligns closely with Malta’s heritage and contemporary culture.

Muscat argues for the prominence of the Maltese Falcon, citing its international recognition and symbolic potential, alongside the Maltese Cross.

He emphasizes the significance of a mascot-related logo, akin to the English Premier League’s Lion, in creating an iconic image. Additionally, Muscat announced a competition for designing a new championship trophy, to be held by the reigning champions for a year.

Submissions for both initiatives will be accepted until March 15th, with winners to be announced by May 31st. The winning brand identity submission will receive €2,000, and the winning trophy design will be awarded €1,000. However, the PPL reserves the right to withhold the award if submissions fail to meet the requisite standards.
