May 28 2021 Share

Arguably Malta’s most iconic and largest sandy beach Għadira is getting a major upgrade as part of a €2 million investment to increase accessibility and make it more attractive to pedestrians.

The beach’s promenade will go through reconstruction with an increase in lights, signs, CCTV cameras as well as a number of trees, fountains and public toilets.

Addressing a press conference this morning, Tourism Minister Clayton Bartolo highlighted the significance of this investment and the government’s approach towards tourism infrastructure, focusing on quality and improving the overall touristic experience.

He announced this on the programme XTRA, revealing also that the certificates will be published next week and will be used by the government to open events, albeit with limitations.

No details were given as to which events and how far the limitations will be allowed. Addressing the entertainment, Fearne stated that due to the successful vaccination rollout and the reduction of active and daily cases signifies a return to normality very soon. He said that should Malta open without caution and too fast, cases will increase, which is why a limited and patient reopening has to be the case.
