“One of the best parts of the day: welcoming people with down syndrome” – Roberta Metsola

May 5 2023 Share

European Parliament President Roberta Metsola posted on social media about a heartwarming meeting that took place at the European Parliament.

The Maltese MEP expressed her delight and highlighted the importance of inclusion, equality, and autonomy for people with disabilities.

In her post, Metsola thanked the organisations EU Fortrisomy 21 and the Down Syndrome Association Malta for their work in raising awareness and improving the lives of people with Down syndrome. She stated that nothing should hold individuals with disabilities back and pledged the European Parliament’s support for inclusion, equality, and autonomy for all.

Metsola’s message underscores the importance of creating a society that values and includes all individuals, regardless of their differences.

People with disabilities, including Down syndrome, face many challenges in society, from discrimination to lack of access to basic rights and services.

It is crucial that we work towards creating a more inclusive and equal society, where everyone has the opportunity to reach their full potential.
