Aug 1 2024 Share

Tesla has officially introduced a new accessory to complement their modern, futuristic cars: official karaoke microphones designed specifically for use with Tesla vehicles.

This release has largely gone unnoticed, with many unaware that Elon Musk’s company has ventured into the karaoke industry. Tesla has actually been selling the ‘CaraokeMic’ for two years in China, but they have now made the microphones available in the USA as well.

The microphones come in a set of two and connect seamlessly to the media apps on both the front and rear touchscreens of the car. This allows users to sing along to their favorite songs during long road trips, making the journey more enjoyable.

The mics pair automatically with the car and have a battery life of up to ten hours on a single charge. The set is priced at $215 and is only available for shipping within mainland USA, excluding states like Hawaii and Alaska, as well as international locations such as Europe.

Malta Chamber Of Commerce Advocates For Stronger Enforcement Of Laws

Aug 1 2024 Share

The Malta Chamber of Commerce has released a statement advocating for stronger enforcement of laws and for the government to increase dialogue with various stakeholders including the Malta Council for Economic and Social Development (MCESD) to ensure that the implementation of policies is fair and effective.

In their statement, the Chamber mainly addressed the crucial reliance Malta has on migrant workers across various sectors. They also called on the government to address abuse and exercises which exploit third country nationals.

The statement also pointed out the need for a clear distinction between ethical and unethical business, with the Chamber urging “continued vigilance and robust action to ensure that all businesses operate on a level playing field, respecting both legal standards and the rights of workers.”

Parliamentary Secretary for Social Dialogue Andy Ellul has responded to the statement made by the Malta Chamber of Commerce, stating that he took note of the statement which emphasized that conditions of employees should be respected.

He stated that he agreed that no worker in the country should be exploited but that authorities are enforcing regulations and doing their utmost to protect worker’s right. Ellul invited the Chamber of Commerce to discuss amongst other things the mandatory union membership concept at the next MCESD meeting.

Malta Increases Investment In Renewable Energy

Malta Increases Investment In Renewable Energy
Aug 1 2024 Share

Between 2023 and June 2024, Malta has witnessed substantial investment and growing public interest in renewable energy.

The Regulator for Energy and Water Services (REWS) received over 65 proposals for medium to large-scale energy installations, with a combined potential capacity exceeding 97,700 kW. This capacity could power 35,600 households and reduce CO2 emissions by 60,000 tonnes.

At a REWS-organized conference, Minister for the Environment, Energy, and Regeneration, Miriam Dalli, reaffirmed Malta’s strong commitment to renewable energy investment.

“Our aim is to increase the use of renewable sources like solar and wind energy, with the goal of generating 25% of Malta’s energy from renewables by 2030. This is not just about sustainability but also about taking concrete steps in our climate action plan,” she stated.

In 2024, REWS is set to release four calls for energy project proposals, with two already issued in April and June, and the remaining two planned for August and November.

Minister Dalli emphasized the government’s focus on enhancing clean energy infrastructure across Malta and Gozo, in close collaboration with the private sector, to achieve sustainability and decarbonisation goals.

REWS CEO, Ing. Marjohn Abela, expressed satisfaction with the positive response from Maltese and Gozitan residents, highlighting successful initiatives supporting the installation of photovoltaic panels and batteries in homes.

After receiving an overwhelming number of applications, the budget was increased from €5 million to nearly €10 million to accommodate more participants.

Ing. Abela also reported receiving 351 battery applications in 2023, with this number rising to 1,178 by mid-July 2024. He reaffirmed REWS’s commitment to building on past successes and managing these schemes to help Malta transition to a cleaner environment.
