According to weather forecasters, the temperatures for this week are set to feel like a sizzling 35°C by this Thursday.
Today, Tuesday 20th June, the highest temperature is being forecasted as 30°C, but this will significantly increase to 34°C by Thursday going into the weekend.
The lowest temperatures seem to alternate between 20 and 23°C throughout the week as we finally get the long awaited summer atmosphere we’ve been craving after some unexpectedly wintery weather.
According to Facebook weather page ‘It-Temp Madwarna’, this still does not constitute a heat wave.
The forecaster shared the definitions of a heat wave as used by both the World Meteorological Organisation (WMO) and the United Kingdom Met Office (UKMO).
Malta uses the UKMO model, which states that a heat wave is 3 or more days with temperatures registered at 5°C or more than the seasonal average.
The maximum temperatures for this week are not expected to go 5°C over the seasonal average of 29°C.
So it’ll be hot, but not as hot as we expect it to be. What do you make of this?
