As the seasons welcome Spring, temperatures in Malta are immediately expected to rise given the island’s warm climate. Malta Weather has in fact stated that the first week of April will see Malta’s temperatures going up to 20°C or higher!
The probability of temperature reaching these heights is around 70%, which is considerably high. After a week of sunny weather following rain and clouds, the temperature and weather seems to be only getting higher.

Malta has registered 93 new cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours from 2,928 swab tests, while 283 patients have recovered. This information was announced by the official Facebook page of Malta’s Ministry for Health.
As of Saturday 27th March 2021, 171,873 vaccine doses were administered of which 50,050 were 2nd doses.
To date, Malta has registered 28,808 COVID-19 cases in total, of which: 26,763 have recovered, 385 died and 1,660 are still active.

The Health Authorities are currently devising a plan to ease the country of the measures put in place which are due to end on the 11th of April. Public Health Superintendent Charmaine Gauci made the announcement during the weekly COVID-19 briefing but has not yet disclosed any details in regards to what the plan will include.
She stated that authorities have identified hotspots with highest risk and is thus working on a plan that addresses the issue. The relaxation of measures will be taken in full consideration alongside the safety of the public. Active cases have dropped by 1,000 during the past week, signifying that the current measures are working. This is a strong reminder that the public should continue to follow the health measures put in place so as to continue the mitigation.

Legal amendments are set to be included by changes in the Animal Welfare Act which will ban offenders who have been found guilty of cruelty against animals from owning or living with animals. Animal Welfare commissioner Alison Bezzina is pushing this ‘zero-tolerance policy’ in regards to animal cruelty. Justice Minister Edward Zammit Lewis stated that limitations in the animal welfare act prevented Bezzina from banning individuals found guilty of animal abuse from owning pets.
The amendment however is being discussed in parliament. The minister stated that people who abuse animals should not be allowed to own them, with bans being directly proportional to the severity of the case. Bezzina stated that the amendment sends a strong message that crimes against animals will be taken seriously.
