This morning, Ministers Clifton Grima and Chris Bonett visited the site of the first phase of the Motorsport Complex project in Ħal Far. This ambitious initiative aims to elevate Malta’s motorsport facilities to international standards while honouring the government’s commitment to the local motorsport community.

The initial phase focuses on upgrading the drag racing track, enabling certification by the International Automobile Federation (FIA) and its inclusion in the FIA calendar. This certification will position Malta as a host for international-level drag racing events, boosting the island’s reputation in the motorsport world.

Key improvements include extending the track by relocating the existing tower, enhancing safety measures for drivers and spectators, and expanding spectator capacity to accommodate up to 3,000 attendees. A new control tower and media space, built to international standards, will also be constructed, alongside modern facilities for drivers designed to meet their professional needs.

With these upgrades, Malta’s drag racing track will stand as the premier facility of its kind in the Mediterranean, poised to attract global motorsport enthusiasts and events.
