Tables & chairs in Valletta streets spark online debate

After a local community Facebook page ‘Belt Valletta’ posted an image of one of the capital city’s streets filled with tabled and chairs, many took to the comments section to reveal that the condemnation of the practice is far from unanimous.

The photo, captioned ‘Festival of tables and chairs’, drew in the critique of many trying to make their way through the capital city and being unable to manoeuvre properly.

Some lamented that pushchair access was being limited, with others slamming authorities for allowing such practices to take place. One even compared it to a new Paceville.

However, others compared it to foreign cities, arguing that it was pretty common and that people shouldn’t really complain.

‘Some residents think that just because they used to live there, Valletta is theirs’ said one. ‘When Valletta was dead, we complained, Now that it is full of people and life, we still complain’, said another.

Beware dog car sickness as summer heat intensifies!

Sure, the summer heat and sun are something many of us look out for as an excuse to hit the beach. But none of us love the infernal oven a car becomes when left in the sun for too long…and neither does your dog.

A warning has been issued by local Facebook page ‘Dilettanti tal-Agrikoltura siġar u pjanti’, who pointed out that they are already spotting dogs locked in cars as customers shop around.

‘It is important that you leave the window lowered for your dog, and ideally leashed. Just because your dog is in an air conditioned car, they can still get sick.’

The page attached a guide on how to deal with a dog getting car sick.

‘If your dog starts to pant or drool excessively, pull over and give it some time to calm down. Keep the car well ventilated and don’t feed your go too much before a long journey to reduce the chances of it becoming car sick.’

‘Puppies and younger dogs have been known to get car sick’, with adult dogs also being susceptible to car sickness but getting more resilient to it as they turn one.

Man arrested whilst attempting shop robbery with knife

Yesterday, at around 2100hrs, police were informed that a suspicious man wearing a hoodie and a mask was inside a shop in Triq Ħaż-Żabbar, Raħal Ġdid.

Police convened immediately on site and found, upon arrival, a scared cashier and the masked man. The culprit immediately ran out of the shop and was given chase by the officers, whose orders to stop were ignored by the thief.

The police managed to apprehend the man, who kept resisting. During the altercation, a knife was spotted on his person, leading to the police using a taser to control the man.

Investigations showed that the man was a 23-year-old resident of Marsa, and had entered the shop, threatened the cashier, a 27-year-old woman, with his knife and demanded money.

The man was caught in the act by the police. No one was injured and investigations are ongoing.

Timmy gets eliminated from the Love Island villa

In a captivating episode of Love Island Malta, filled with surprises and a new bombshell entering the villa, another unexpected twist unfolded as Love Island host Yazmin announced another round of recoupling. This time, the boy who would be left without a partner would face elimination.

As the recoupling began, Michela, the new bombshell, immediately chose Allen, causing a less than pleasant reaction from both Allen and Chelsea, who were previously coupled up. After that, the remaining couples reaffirmed their connections, making predictable choices. However, the final decision was left to Chelsea, who ultimately selected Andriy, considering him only as a friend.

Chelsea described this decision as a challenging one. Unfortunately, Timmy failed to establish a strong connection with any of the girls during his brief time in the villa.
