Do Not Fall For Provocation, President Of Malta Says

Do Not Fall For Provocation, President Of Malta Says
May 27 2024 Share

In an official message by President of Malta Myriam Spiteri Debono, the newly appointed president urged the public not to fall for provocation or, worse yet, become an agent of it.

‘Despite the jabs in the speeches by the Prime Minister and the Opposition leader, it should be noted that both of them have a common thread in their discourses.’

The president highlighted how both political leaders urged their followers not to fall for provocation.

‘Every citizen is free to act in the parameters their constitutional rights offer them. But, common sense dictates that for one not to fall for provocation, one should not seek provocation or become an agent of it oneself.’

‘Even though I have full trust in the disciplined forces’ capabilities, discipline dictates that no one should contribute to break normal life through situations that may unfold.’

Appealing to let the judiciary processes work serenely, the president said that our laws protect the rights of those being processed. ‘We should not do anything that leads to the suffering of others.’

This comes ahead of Joseph Muscat’s court appearance on May 28, along with various other individuals such as Konrad Mizzi and Keith Schembri.

Supporters of the former Prime Minister are expected to hold a ‘solidarity march’ outside court.
