After hundreds of students took to social media to protest the initially-tripled parking prices, which amounted to as much as €12 for up to 24 hours of parking, the private company took a U-turn on the decision. The updated fee was changed to €3 per day for parking upon proof of student registration, with University Employees, Campus Hub employees and others taking to the comments to voice their concerns also.

The event was organised by GħSL, MMSA, SACES, ESO, UESA, BETAPSI, Extinction Rebellion, Moviment Graffitti, ICTSA, MKSA, SDM, The Third Eye, ESA, PULSE, SĦS, MHSA, JCA, ASCS, KSU, HOASA, and hosted multiple speakers, who came together to ultimately safeguard student interests.

To an audience of hundreds, one speaker stated “it is totally clear that Campus Hub being centred around student accommodation was an excuse”, whilst another claimed that “University intently neglected those Gozitans which have to rent a place in Malta and those foreign students coming from lower income families, so no conditions were imposed to safeguard students’ interests.”

Warner Bros. CEO open to making MORE Harry Potter films… if J.K. Rowling agrees

Warner Bros. CEO open to making MORE Harry Potter films... if J.K. Rowling agrees
Nov 4 2022 Share

Potterheads rejoice! If you’ve been hanging on since 2011 for a glimmer of hope on the return of The Wizarding World in the form of more Harry Potter films… there may be a chance.

Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav has stated that he is open to further the boy wizard’s story and make more Harry Potter films, but only if original writer J.K. Rowling agrees. The CEO revealed this in a recent investors call, highlighting that the company hasn’t made a Potter film in 15 years and a Superman film in 13 years, both of which brought a significant amount of profit to the company.

Zaslav’s interest in continuing the Harry Potter universe will definitely bring a smile to the face of fans around the world, but the media turmoil surrounding Rowling following a number of comments made in the past may put a spoke in the wheels of such plans.

Penning the original seven Harry Potter novels, the British author was met with considerable backlash after making comments about transgender women and the sexes back in 2020. Her statements, such as “If sex isn’t real, there’s no same-sex attraction”, were called transphobic and spreading of hate speech towards trans communities.

Franchise stars such as Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint and even Fantastic Beasts star Eddie Redmayne have since released statements supporting the transgender community… all while the future of the Potterverse hangs in the balance.
