Strong Winds To Hit Malta As Heat Wave Persists

Strong Winds To Hit Malta As Heat Wave Persists
Jul 25 2023 Share

As Malta suffers intense temperatures and power cuts, local meteorological reports have forecasted strong winds set to hit the islands starting today and possibly into tomorrow.

A record 42.7°C was registered on Monday 24th July 2023, a record heat set back in 1988 and just one degree under August 1999’s scorching 43.8°C.

According to It-Temp Madwarna, the minimum temperature did not drop below 30°C last night, with the temperature expected to reach 43°C on Tuesday, 25th.

However, some respite might be given to the people on the islands as strong winds are being forecasted to hit starting today and well into Wednesday.

The wind is also set to be of a strong Force 6 to 7, and could bring the temperatures down ever so slightly. The Health Authorities still have their health warning issued, calling on people to look out for signs of heat stroke and how to deal with such situations.

New National Record Set For Largest 'Tużżana Pastizzi'

Vibe’s Nate, Frank and Rossi have officially set the record for the largest ‘tużżana pastizzi’, which, when placed from one end to the other, measure about 3 metres and 58 centimetres.

The radio hosts set up their stands at the Malta International Food Festival and were visited by The Malta Records, who confirmed the national record.

Each pastizz measures about 29cm and 30cm, making for a massive crunchy snack – albeit, one that has to be shared.

With 6 ricotta and 6 piżelli – to ensure that everyone’s tastebuds are satisfied given the oft touted differences in preference between the two – the national record also continues to promote Malta’s culinary culture.

Showing off their majestic, and massive, batch of the iconic Maltese snack, they are minutes away from potentially setting a new record for the largest pastizzi dozen, cooked up by local gem, Sphinx.

And that’s what this trio has set out to do outside Valletta’s city gate this evening!
