Malta Rangers Rescue Lethargic Dog From Majjistral Park

Malta Rangers Rescue Lethargic Dog From Majjistral Park
May 5 2025 Share

On the first day of this new month, the Malta Ranger Unit located the lethargic dog that was hiding in Majjistral Park.

The dog, named Thor, was reported to the rangers when he was seen roaming in the park, seemingly unwell and dehydrated.

‘The Rangers who know the topography of the Park by heart, immediately recognised the shrub he was seen hiding in on the photos and headed there.’

Thor was located deep inside the Lentisk shrub and was lethargic. Thor was initially thought to not even be alive.

‘Our Rangers are always equipped with a lead, dog treats and chip reader and managed to retrieve him. Unfortunately, although the law requires it, he wasn’t chipped or with any ID tag.’

Animal Welfare Malta was immediately contacted, with the rangers meeting AW near Malta Government’s veterinarian to get medical care for the dog.

If not claimed within a week, Thor is going to need a new home.

‘If you are willing to do that for him, please contact Animal Welfare and ask for case number 6171558.’

Fra Ryan Dalli Ordained Deacon in Ħaż-Żabbar

May 5 2025 Share

The newly ordained deacon is Fra Ryan Dalli, 34, from Ħaż-Żabbar. He joined the Capuchin Friars Minor in 2013 and has spent the past years preparing for this important step through prayer, study, and pastoral work.

During the ordination, Archbishop Charles Scicluna reflected on the significance of Fra Ryan being ordained on the feast of Saints Philip and James. He reminded him that the first mission of every disciple is to be with Jesus and to belong to Him.

Archbishop Scicluna encouraged the new deacon to lead others to Christ.

As a Capuchin Franciscan, the Archbishop urged Fra Ryan not to forget his roots:

“Do not forget the roots of your calling, which is above all a call to serve the poor in a preferential way. Your ministry is not something you create yourself, but it is the fruit of obedience to your legitimate superiors and to the bishop wherever you are sent. May your service be a humble one, yet one through which many become rich through the mercy and grace of the Lord. Let your service be the fruit of pure love — not possessive, greedy, or jealous love, but a love that brings to everyone who meets you a spark from the merciful heart of Jesus.”
