Malta has once again made international news after platform blogTO posted an article revealing that millions of dollars worth of stolen cars from Toronto somehow ended up in Malta.

A press release issued by York Regional Police on Friday revealed that sixty four vehicles stolen from residential driveways across the GTA somehow turned up ‘in Southern Europe.’

The York Regional Police Auto Cargo Theft Unit recovered dozens of the vehicles, which add up to a total of $3.5 million, which have since been sent back to Canada as part of project Majestic.

The vehicles were tracked down and found to have been located inside shipping containers ready to be sold illegally. In 2021, it was revealed that investigators identified a criminal syndicate responsible for stealing high-end vehicles, including everything from Lexus, Toyota and Honda.

Vehicles were driven to the Port of Montreal and finally loaded onto shops delivered to buyers in Africa and the UAE.

Between March 2021 and December 2022, over 70 vehicles were seized, with an added value of more than $4.5 million. Eighteen people have since been charged with more than 170 offences pertaining to these crimes.

And, after also thanking his family, he dropped the bombshell of appreciation by thanking Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne and Zayn Malik, sending the crowd into absolute frenzy.

Styles won four awards during the night which meant that he dominated all four categories he was nominated in, which includes Artist of the Year.

He took awards for Album of the Year for Harry’s House, Song of the Year for ‘As It Was’ and Pop/R&B Act during the show.

Harry also gave a nod to a controversy which he caused after his Grammy Awards speech, when he said that ‘people like me’ don’t usually win such awards.

The comments, which he made whilst accepting the Album of the Year award, were met with a stir, leading him to acknowledge that he is ‘aware of his privilege’. He thus also dedicated the win to several female artists including Reyna, Florence Welch, Mabel and Becky Hill.

Following the devastating earthquakes which hit Turkey and Syria earlier last week, with the death tolls of the cataclysm rising beyond 29,000, various rescue dogs were deployed to aid in the rescue of survivors.

The dogs are proving to be essential members of the rescue effort as they sniff out survivors beneath rubble as well as providing comfort to all those currently dealing with the devastation.

Among them are Köpük, who managed to rescue 60-year-old Meral Nakir among many others, as well as the hunting dog Alex, who helped his owner citizen Uğur Şahin as he contributed with the efforts.

Mexico’s search and rescue dogs, who have become symbols of resilience in strength following the 2017 Mexico City earthquake, are also helping out in this massive crisis.

Apart from other brave canines hailing from all over the world, Malta’s Civil Protection Department also took their own professional trained rescue canine to help with this dangerous mission.
