On Saturday, the Ministry for Education announced a substantial increase in stipends for a considerable number of students pursuing programs at the University of Malta and the Malta College of Arts, Science and Technology (MCAST).
A total of 46 courses have been selected for this initiative, representing an investment of €6.5 million over three scholastic years. This increase in financial support, set to begin next month, will benefit around 1,200 students, with some receiving as much as €380.
Among the beneficiaries, students aspiring to become teachers, especially those in primary education, stand to gain significantly. Primary school student teachers will witness a doubling of their stipends.
This increase does not only aim to alleviate the financial burden on these students but also serve as a motivating factor, fostering a conducive environment for academic excellence and ensuring that the nation’s future educators are adequately supported in their educational journey.
