Standing events will require masked attendees, Chris Fearne reveals

During a press conference addressed by Deputy Minister Chris Fearne and Minister for Culture José Herrera regarding the current COVID-19 situation in Malta, Dr. Fearne revealed how Malta will proceed with regards to the local events sphere.

With regards to outdoor standing events, these will be able to start from September 6 for vaccinated individuals, with Fearne revealing that attendees must wear masks.

He went on to reveal that a number of pilot test events will be held towards the end of the month with hopes of contributing to the local cultural and economic sector with utmost caution and vigilance.

Superintendent for Public Health Prof. Charmaine Gauci stated that while the public may be hungry for events, we are still in a pandemic and must follow certain COVID-19 protocol, which is why the situation is something which we may not be accustomed to.

San Ġiljan retain knockout trophy after victory over Neptunes

San Ġiljan Aquatic Sports Club have successfully managed to retain the KO trophy after an 11-10 victory over neighbouring Neptunes. Neptunes had previously cost San Ġiljan the league title after defeating San Ġiljan ASC.

Securing a 3-1 score by the end of the first session, the Reds increased their momentum going into the second session with spectacular goals from Dino Zammit and Ben Plumpton, ending the second session in a 6-6 tie.

After another two sessions brimming with goals building up to a mind-blowing finale, San Ġiljan managed to secure the victory and capture the KO trophy.

‘How I Met Your Mother’ fans will be happy to hear that not only is the hit sitcom getting a spin-off led by Hilary Duff, but that the cast & crew are finally on set and production has officially begun.

The series will also feature Chris Lowell, Tomas Ainsley, Suraj Sharma, Tien Train, Francia Raisa and Brandon Micheal Hall and is reportedly being filmed at the 20th Century Studios Set.

With fellow cast-mates like Francia Raisa sharing a few more snaps of the set on her Instagram page and Hulu’s official Instagram alluding to an iconic catchphrase from the old sitcom, the hype is real and we honestly can’t wait.

75 COVID-19 cases registered overnight with 54 overnight

Malta has registered 75 new cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours from 3,709 swab tests, while 54 patients have recovered. No deaths was registered in the past 24 hours. This information was announced by the official Facebook page of Malta’s Ministry for Health.

As of Wednesday 1st September 2021, 797,562 vaccine doses were administered of which 414,285 were 1st doses. 413,041 people are currently fully vaccinated.

To date, Malta has registered 36,322 COVID-19 cases in total, of which: 34,781 have recovered, 441 died and 704 are still active.

Mater Dei Hospital is currently treating a total of 34 COVID-19 positive patients, two of whom are in the ITU.
