Stadiums can soon open their doors: Clifton Grima reacts to arrival of COVID-19 vaccine

In his first reaction interview with Malta Daily, Parliamentary Secretary for Youth Sport and Voluntary Organisations Clifton Grima expressed his happiness with the arrival of the COVID-19 vaccine, a tool with which we can finally battle the pandemic.

Grima also touched upon a topic close to his heart, sport, where he addressed the difficulty in having stadiums not able to open their doors to their supporters, reporting that he has been in talks with the relevant authorities on the issue.

The Parliamentary Secretary went on to state that if having the necessary respect to health and safety measures and enough space for each individual, one can start looking at the gradual return of the sports scene in Malta.

First Gozitan nurse receives COVID-19 vaccine

Following the administration of Malta’s first COVID-19 vaccine on Infectious Diseases Unit nurse Rachel Grech, Gozo has also seen its first vaccination.

Gozo General Hospital nurse Felicienne Cini was the first Gozitan to receive the vaccine with Prime Minister Robert Abela, Health Minister Christ Fearne and Gozo Minister Clint Camilleri all present.

The first appointment letters providing the time and place of both doses will start being sent out from the 7th of January to individuals over the age of 85.

115 COVID-19 cases registered overnight with 128 recoveries

67 COVID-19 cases registered overnight with 323 recoveries

Malta has registered 115 new cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours from 2,797 swab tests, while 128 patients have recovered. This information was announced by the official Facebook page of Malta’s Ministry for Health.

From yesterday’s cases; 34 cases were family members of previously known cases, 18 cases were contact of positive work colleagues, 7 cases were direct contacts with other positive cases and 8 cases were from social gatherings with other positive cases.

To date, Malta has registered 12,541 COVID-19 cases in total, of which: 10,919 have recovered, 215 died and 1,407 are still active.

Robert Abela claims ‘only reporting’ Bernard Grech’s tax issues to tax chief

Following the recent stir caused by the tax issues between Robert Abela, Bernard Grech and tax chief Martin Gaerty, the police have denied the fact they require the PM’s go-ahead.

Moreover, Robert Abela has also stated that he was only doing his duty in reporting Grech’s tax situation to the tax commissioner.

The Prime Minister explained how every citizen carries the responsibility of reporting law-breaking to the respective authorities.
