St Paul’s Bay With Highest Rate Of Property Sales In July

According to the National Statistics Office (NSO), St Paul’s Bay registered the highest number of final deeds of sale in July 2023 at 88.

In July 2023, the number of final deeds of sale and promise of sale agreements relating to residential property amounted to 1,024 and 1,085 respectively.

‘In relation to the amounts registered in 2022, the final deeds of sale decreased by 19.2 per cent, whereas promise of sale agreements increased by 13.6 per cent.’

In the month under review, 937, or 91.5 per cent, of these final deeds of sale involved individual buyers (households), with companies accounting for virtually all the rest.

The value of the deeds involving individual buyers (households) amounted to €206.9 million, equivalent to 74.3 per cent of the total value.

In July 2023, the highest numbers of final deeds of sale were recorded in the Northern Harbour District and the Northern District, registering a total of 293 and 205 deeds, respectively. At 113 and 115 deeds, the lowest numbers were recorded in the Western District, and the Gozo and Comino District, respectively.

Mosta followed St Paul’s Bay with 54 final deeds of sale, followed by Birkirkara at 47. The sum of agreements recorded in these localities corresponded to 18.5 per cent of the total final deeds of sale registered during July 2023.

Jake Vella Gifted Message And Guitar Book By Prime Minister

Jake Vella, the budding rockstar and former sports ambassador currently in Mater Dei Hospital, was visited and gifted by the Prime Minister and his wife yesterday.

Prime Minister Robert Abela and his wife Lydia visited Jake who, due to medical complications, is currently in hospital recovering. However, this did not stop him from picking up a new passion – playing the guitar.

Being taught by various local guitar legends, the Prime Minister showed Jake his appreciation by gifting him a book ‘Les Paul 70 Years: The Definitive History of Rock’s Greatest Guitar.’

The Prime Minister also left a note of support for Jake, expressing just how much he inspires him. ‘Thank you, for when in certain moments we feel like we giving up, we look to you and you fill us with courage as you fill us with the same motivation you possess. Keep it up!’

Here’s What Birgu’s New Open Green Space Will Look Like

GreenServ and Project Green are launching a project to open a green area in Birgu to the public, with different recreational zones including a picnic area, a playground and a dog park.

Minister for the Environment, Energy, and Enterprise Miriam Dalli visited the site of this new garden with WasteServ CEO Richard Bilocca, Project Green CEO Steve Ellul, and Birgu’s Mayor John Boxall.

This 9,000m² open space, larger than the size of a football ground, is situated in the heart of Cottonera, in an area known as ‘Fuq il-Glacis’. A short distance away from Birgu’s Gate of Provence, the area forms part of the fortification of the Santa Margherita Lines.

The project’s design places a strong emphasis on safeguarding the area’s heritage. It also ensures that the new pathways and recreational facilities coexist harmoniously with the mature trees already on site. These trees will continue to be maintained, retaining the beauty of this green area. The new garden will feature picnic tables and benches, a children’s play area, and dog exercise equipment.

The new pathways will make the space accessible to all. Part of the garden’s new lighting system will be powered by solar panels. All necessary equipment will be crafted from sustainable wood and recycled materials, while the pathways will be formed using reclaimed materials.

Minister Miriam Dalli explained that this investment of around €500,000 will provide the local community, including residents, workers, and students of Birgu, Bormla, and Kalkara, with another open recreational space surrounded by greenery.

“This is another investment in a better quality of life for these communities, as part of our €700 million plan to create more green spaces in Malta and Gozo, so that everyone can have a green open space not far from their home. In the coming months, we will continue working on many other environmental projects in other localities,” Miriam Dalli said.

The implementation of this project and its subsequent maintenance routines were planned to minimise carbon emissions, prioritising long-term sustainability. The new garden will be opened to the public next year.
