The Superintendence for Public Health has yet to issue a resolution on calls for a five-day isolation period for fully-vaccinated citizens after previously putting such an exception into effect for Mater Dei workers who came in contact with a COVID-19 case.

Calls have been made to enact a five-day quarantine instead of the current 14-day period, subject to a negative PCR test on the fifth day.

Malta’s Chamber of Commerce calling the blanket quarantine measures “totally unreasonable” due to failure to distinguish between vaccinated and non-vaccinated people.

The Chamber has also suggested that such measures are impacting productivity, especially in situations where remote working is not possible, going on to call for a more pragmatic approach.
