Although it has been amended as of writing this article, readers of Infrastructure and Transport Minister Ian Borg’s Wikipedia page would have noticed the word ‘Konkos’ thrown right into the middle of the minister’s name. The page read normally, except for, of course, the first mention of the minister on the page being ‘Ian “Konkos” Borg. A blink and you’ll miss it edit to the ‘political career’ description also read; ‘His current hobbies include cutting trees, destroying the environment and building pools.’
Borg has been hard at work with several road projects seeking to improve Malta’s roads and transport systems. One of his most recent project saw the renovation of Triq il-President Anton Buttigieg in Zejtun. Infrastructure Malta also allegedly planted well over 50,000 trees over the past two years and a half. Despite this, Borg has been often criticised for uprooting trees and over-urbanisation of several Maltese areas, often done in such comedic tones as this Wikipedia incident.
