Here are some more absolutely gorgeous snapshots from yesterday’s Festa Frawli in Mġarr. The Strawberry Festival is now celebrating its 14th edition and highlights the locally grown fruit and the various dishes it can accompany.

With thousands of people present, the event-goers convened in Mġarr despite the not so ideal weather as they still wanted to relish their taste buds in the delicious red fruit.

The event was organised by the Mġarr Local Council – an important socio-cultural event that brings together the community and celebrates the rich agricultural heritage of the area.

The festival was started in 2007 as an experiment by the local council, who were keen to promote the Maltese agriculture industry and the strawberry fruit in particular.

A four day work week could be better for your health, study suggests

A four day work week could be better for your health, study suggests

According to new research by an Australian university has continued to back up claims, and calls by workers, that the four day work week could be the future of employment.

Health researchers from the University of South Australia claim that a recent study suggests that a three day weekend can see marked improvements on everything from sleep, physical activity and mental health.

According to the study, which was conducted over a 13-month period, the UniSA researchers found that people on holidays engaged in 13% more moderate to vigorous physical exercise whilst also being 5% less sedentary each day.

Sleep patterns also reportedly improved, increasing by 4% more each day as people gain an extra 21 minutes of sleep each day they were on holiday.

Senior researcher Professor Carol Maher said that this study ‘provides empirical evidence that people have healthier lifestyle patterns when they have a short break, such as a three-day weekend.’

This follows a massive UK trial by various companies which also found that productivity of workers improved drastically, with many retaining the 4 day model well after the study ended.
