Sliema Wanderers won the inaugural Pre-Season Summer Cup by defeating Malta champions Ħamrun Spartans 2-1 in the final at the National Stadium.
Sliema reached the final after a penalty shoot-out victory over Floriana and took an early lead in the match when Geoffrey Acheampong scored in the eighth minute.
Ħamrun Spartans struggled to create scoring opportunities, and Sliema extended their lead early in the second half when Murilo Henrique converted a penalty following a handball by Joseph Mbong.
Although the Spartans pushed for a comeback, they only managed to score a late goal through Raphael Lopes Silva in stoppage time.
Sliema held on to their advantage and secured the win, providing them with a morale boost ahead of the 2024-25 Premier League season, where they will face Mosta in their opening match.
