Sliema ASC’s long-awaited 32nd league title has finally arrived, as the Blues triumphed over rivals San Ġiljan in a thrilling title decider.

This season will be one to remember for Sliema, as they broke the dominance of San Ġiljan ASC and Neptunes to reclaim the Summer League crown.

The victory was particularly sweet, as it secured a historic domestic double for Sliema, having also won the local cup earlier in the season. Sliema looked composed and well-prepared throughout the match, ultimately defeating San Ġiljan 15-12.

This was a closer contest compared to their first matchup, which ended in a 12-8 win for Sliema.

In the first session, Sliema’s homegrown talents Liam Galea, Benji Cachia, and Jayden Cutajar all found the back of the net.

The second session saw the international players take center stage, with Australian Aaron Younger scoring a hat trick and San Ġiljan’s Italian player Giacomo Cannella delivering a stunning long-range goal.

Although the game remained tight in the third and fourth sessions, Sliema held their nerve under pressure, securing the win and their long-awaited league title.

Taylor Swift Addresses Foiled Terrorist Attack On Vienna Shows

After two men were arrested by Austrian authorities on August 7 for allegedly planning a series of attacks across major events in Austria, including Taylor Swift’s concerts, details emerged about the suspects. One of the suspects, a 19-year-old Austrian citizen, had reportedly pledged allegiance to the terrorist group ISIS.

Franz Ruf, Director-General for Public Safety in the Ministry of the Interior, and Police Chief Gerhard Purstl stated that both men were allegedly radicalized online and had detailed plans for carrying out an attack.

Shortly after the arrests, event organizers announced that Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour shows in Vienna would be canceled. Swift had initially planned to perform in the Austrian capital for three nights. She has now spoken publicly about the incident for the first time.

Posting a photo on Instagram to mark the end of the European leg of the Eras Tour, Taylor Swift wrote in the caption: “Having our Vienna shows canceled was devastating. The reason for the cancellations filled me with a new sense of fear and a tremendous amount of guilt because so many people had planned on coming to those shows.

“But I was also so grateful to the authorities because, thanks to them, we were grieving concerts and not lives.

“I was heartened by the love and unity I saw in the fans who banded together. I decided that all of my energy had to go toward helping to protect the nearly half a million people who were coming to see the shows in London.

“My team and I worked hand in hand with stadium staff and British authorities every day in pursuit of that goal, and I want to thank them for everything they did for us.”

She continued: “Let me be very clear: I am not going to speak about something publicly if I think doing so might provoke those who would want to harm the fans who come to my shows.

“In cases like this one, ‘silence’ is actually showing restraint and waiting to express yourself at a time when it’s right to. My priority was finishing our European tour safely, and it is with great relief that I can say we did that.”

It remains unclear whether or not Swift will perform in Vienna anytime soon.

Football icon Cristiano Ronaldo has broke yet another record, however this time the record is a YouTube one not football related.

The Portuguese superstar’s new YouTube channel UR. Cristiano amassed an insane 10 million subscribers in only one day, an unprecedented milestone in YouTube history.

The previous record was held by video game channel Hamster Kombat who reached 10 million subscribers in only 7 days.

On Wednesday, Ronaldo revealed the exciting news to his millions of his fans, saying “The wait is over. My @YouTube channel is finally here! SIUUUbscribe and join me on this new journey,”

Within the first 90 minutes of the channel being live, the channel hit 1 million subscribers and after 4 hours it was already at 5 million subscribers.

On the channel, Ronaldo has promised to give fans an unprecedented look into his life sharing with fans not only new undiscovered details about his illustrious football career but also about his “family, wellness, nutrition, preparation, recovery, education, and business.”

In the channel’s very first video Ronaldo had this to say “I have always enjoyed having such a strong relationship with fans on social media and my YouTube channel will give me an even bigger platform to do so and they will learn more about me, my family, and my views on many different subjects,”
