Former EURO winners Italy, who were crowned victorious back in 2020, are just one of the teams facing off today.

The first match is set to see Hungary and Switzerland facing off at 15:00 for Group A in Cologne, before Spain and Croatia take to the pitch at 18:00 in Berlin for Group B.

Saving the last EURO winners for last, Italy is set to face off against Albania at 21:00 in Dortmund.

Italy have only lost one of their ten opening games at EURO finals, with that being the 3-0 loss to the Netherlands back in 2008.

First Turtle Nest For Summer 2024 Spotted In Golden Bay

First Turtle Nest For Summer 2024 Spotted In Golden Bay
Jun 15 2024 Share

Nature Trust Malta (NTM-FEE) volunteers spotted the first turtle nesting site of the season during a morning patrol at Ir-Ramla tal-Mixquqa (Golden Bay).

ERA officers are coordinating with NTM-FEE to cordon off and protect the loggerhead turtle nest. An Emergency Conservation Order will be issued to ensure its safety.

The public is urged to act responsibly, as excessive noise, trampling, and light near the nesting area can harm turtle eggs and hatchlings.

ERA thanks the public for their cooperation and asks them to report any turtle activity by calling 2292 3500 or 2131 3150, or through ERA’s customer care system.

NTM seeks volunteers for monitoring and other tasks related to the turtle nest during the nesting period. Those interested in volunteering can email [email protected] for more information.

Gap Between PL & PN In Local Councils Down To 20,255

Gap Between PL & PN In Local Councils Down To 20,255

Labour, although celebrating an overall win with a 52% majority and about 20,000 more votes, saw a significant decrease from their record 47,000-vote lead in 2019.

The Nationalist Party (PN) regained control of Mosta and Siġġiewi local councils and cut into Labour’s majority in other areas during Friday’s final vote count.

Recently, Labour’s lead in the MEP elections was also reduced to 8,400 votes.

Independent and third-party candidates gained traction, with ADPD’s Ralph Cassar and independents Conrad Borg Manche and Nigel Holland winning seats.

PN flipped Żebbuġ (Gozo) and gained a seat in Santa Luċija, traditionally Labour strongholds. Labour retained control in key areas but faced setbacks, such as the relocation debacle in Siġġiewi.

Long-serving mayors, including John Schembri of Luqa and John Boxall of Vittoriosa, were re-elected, while new political figures like Chris Deguara in Naxxar emerged.

In Floriana, independent candidates led to a hung council, showcasing a shift in voter dynamics. Despite challenges, Labour secured an additional seat in Kirkop and maintained its majority in several councils.
