Six individuals were hospitalised on Thursday morning after a 79-year-old Maltese man reportedly lost control of his car, driving into a crowd of people shopping on Żabbar monti
The incident occurred around 9:30 am, from sources that we received that the driver allegedly pressed the accelerator instead of the brake. This led the vehicle to veer into the group, causing a commotion as several individuals were struck.
Emergency teams from Mater Dei Hospital were swiftly dispatched to the location to assist the injured. Police later confirmed that none of the six individuals taken to hospital were in critical condition.
Eyewitnesses described the aftermath as chaotic, with concerned onlookers gathering to help the injured before authorities arrived. Despite the significant disruption caused, preliminary reports indicate that the injuries sustained were not life-threatening.
Investigations by the police into the circumstances of the accident are ongoing.
