Invited onto an episode of Popolin, the late Sion Grech’s sister Rita spoke about what the family went through following the murder, stating that whoever killed Sion killed their parents due to the grief.

Rita explained how her father experienced immense regret for not being as accepting of Sion prior to her death, whereas their mother was ridden to a wheel-chair and suffered with depression.

Rita went on to explain what the family went through, about hearing about the murder and how the case did not do Sion or their family justice.

Sion Grech’s body was found dumped in a Marsa field in April 2005. Sion was just 20 years old, with an autopsy determining that she had been stabbed at least 17 times.

Ismael Habesh and Faical Mohouachi were both cleared of wilful homicide by a nine person jury earlier this year.

The Association for Abandoned Animals shared the tragic and brutal story of Marley, a stray cat, who was shot from close range towards his head.

Remarkably, he managed to crawl back to his feeder, who took him to the vet. The X-Rays showed hundreds of shotgun pellets all over his body.

Unfortunately, there was no hope for Marley and he had to be euthanised. The Association for Abandoned Animals shared the images, stating: ‘this country can never heal when it comes to animals.’

‘Our sincere condolences to Marley’s feeder and all cat feeders, who do their maximum for the strays but have to face these atrocities as well.’

‘Rest well dear Marley. So very sorry that you met evil, and your life ended this way.’

Thick Fog Descends On Malta In Early Morning Hours

Thick Fog Descends On Malta In Early Morning Hours

The Maltese islands have once again woken up to an early carpet of fog across many parts of the country.

Videos and photos sent to this newsroom show the fog covering most of the main roads as many make their way to work or school this Thursday morning.

Such weather phenomena, despite being fascinating to see, brings with it a high alert for road commuters to drive slower and more carefully due to the increased risk of accidents and reduced visibility.

Last February, MaltaDaily asked Samuel Cutajar, the head of Facebook page ‘It-Temp Madwarna’ to give an explanation of how such fog forms.

Cutajar explained how the fog that formed was the weather phenomenon that occurs when the forecasted day is a sunny one. The fog is also usually a prelude to a couple of very hot days, with the force of wind registered as absolutely calm at 0.

The cold air precipitates downwards due to being heavier than the hotter air, explained Cutajar. The fog is more intense in low altitude zones such as valleys and central regions.
