Simon Schembri’s daughter shares inspiring video in celebration of his 25 years of service!

Simon Schembri has retired after giving our country 25 years of service as a police officer.

Near the end of his career, Schembri sustained a very serious injury when he fell victim to a hit-and-run, the accident was nearly fatal.

However, Schembri showed incredible strength, in his fight towards recovery! His daughter shared a video of her father training following the accident.

151 COVID-19 cases registered overnight with 156 recoveries

Malta has registered 151 new cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours from 3,491 swab tests, while 156 patients have recovered. This information was announced by the official Facebook page of Malta’s Ministry for Health.

As of Wednesday 10th January 2021, 44,598 vaccine doses were administered.

To date, Malta has registered 19,333 COVID-19 cases in total, of which: 16,646 have recovered, 286 died and 2,401 are still active.

‘Ambjent Malta’ plants 21,800 trees and shrubs in 2020

Minister Aaron Farrugia took to Facebook yesterday to note that the Maltese Ministry for the Environment, Climate Change and Planning Ministry in Malta, planted 21,800 trees and shrubs during the year 2020.

This number is higher than those in 2018 and 2019. These trees and shrubs were planted in; Buskett, Kemmuna, Madliena, Salini, Marsaxlokk, Swatar and Mellieħa, among others.

‘Ambjent Malta’ also monitors the newly planted trees and shrubs for the coming 3-5 years in order to make sure that they are growing as they should.

Warning: Heavy winds predicted today and will last throughout the week

The Meteorological Office has predicted strong winds today until 6 PM this evening. The wind will be coming from the Northwest and will be strong overexposed areas of the Maltese Islands.

The Malta Airport weather predictions are also mentioning that wind will persist throughout the rest of the week as well.

People are urged to be careful and to stay safe.
