Shakira’s diss track towards ex Piqué breaks YouTube record

A diss track by Shakira aimed at ex-partner Gerard Piqué for cheating has broken a Latin YouTube record.

The 45-year-old singer’s video for ‘Out of Your League’ has been watched more than 63 million times in a span of 24 hours, making it the most viewed Latin song in that time period.

Amongst other sharp attacks, the track addresses the Barcelona defender’s new alleged 23-year-old partner, with Shakira comparing the relationship to swapping a Ferrari for a Twingo and a Rolex for a Casio.

The track also references the Colombian singer’s issues with Spanish authorities, claiming that her ex left her with €14.5 million in income tax debt, all while her in-laws remained neighbours.

Meanwhile, the Spanish defender did not hold back, announcing a new partnership with Casio watches for his new football 7-a-side project titled the King’s League.

The two separated in 2022 after more than 10 years together; they remain focused on co-parenting their children, nine-year-old Milan and seven-year-old Sasha.

Government to explore increase in bus routes, lanes & frequency, Transport Minister announces

Transport Minister Aaron Farrugia has announced that the government has started looking into the improvement of bus routes in Malta, together with the increase of frequencies and bus lanes.

The Ministry for Transport, Infrastructure and Capital Projects, together with the Parliamentary Secretariat for Social Dialogue recently hosted the Civil Society Committee (CSC) to discuss their proposals for the improvement of Malta’s bus service.

During the event, the Minister welcomed the news that “Malta Public Transport reached 50 million passengers in 2022 reached 50 million passengers in 2022, thus breaking its own record of passengers in 2019”, before going on to discuss the way forward for Malta’s transport infrastructure.

He went on to state that the process to electrify Malta’s bus fleet and thereby reduce emissions has commenced.

Following the implementation of free public transport in Malta, the system has seen an increase in demand and as such, the transport ministry, operator and regulator continue to analyse routes, frequencies and number of buses the country needs “n order to ensure that the public has a realistic choice between using their private car or using public transport.”

LESA officials praised for helping elderly man change tyre on his way to visit mum

The local community has gathered in praise of two LESA officials who assisted an elderly man in changing his tyre in Marsa.

The elderly man was reportedly on his way to visit his mother and had to stop his car in the vicinity of the St. Vincent De Paul residence in Marsa.

The two LESA officials stopped in their tracks to assist the man in changing his tyre before he went on his way.

A Facebook post published by the official LESA page thanked the officials for their exemplary actions and enacting their duty in the best way possible.

Multiple members took to the comments section of the post to thank the officials, praising the two’s actions and highlighting how it is not the first time that LESA officials went out of their way to help members of the local community.

Family raising funds as young Ena Marie battles brain tumour in London

The family of 15-year-old Ena Marie Mifsud is currently raising funds for the young girl as she battles against a brain tumour she was diagnosed with a few days before Christmas.

Mifsud is currently in London’s Great Ormond Hospital where she is undergoing what is reported to be around 9 months of treatment.

The courageous young girl will be cutting her hair and donating to London charity ‘Little Princess Trust’ as the Maltese government, Malta Community Chest Fund, Puttinu Cares and members of the local community continue to offer their financial and emotional support.

In an attempt to ramp up the financial aid, Ena Marie’s aunt Jeanette Zammit will be running 50 kilometres on her 50th birthday in order to raise funds.

A small excerpt from Zammit’s GoGetFunding page reports that the young girl remains positive and smiling in the face of such adversity, raising €27,262 from an initial goal of €5,000.

Zammit’s 50 kilometre run will take place on the 29th of January 2023.
