New Learning Hub at Kordin Correctional Facility Enhances Rehabilitation Efforts

Mar 15 2025 Share

The ongoing renovation and improvement efforts at the Kordin Correctional Facility are not only enhancing the environment for both staff and inmates but are also strengthening rehabilitation initiatives.

This progress has been made possible as Kordin is now drug-free and operates with greater order, allowing more focus on rehabilitation.

A key example of this transformation is the newly established learning hub, equipped with modern classrooms and essential resources to support education and training for both staff and inmates.

This initiative is already yielding positive results, with the Correctional Services Agency continuing to invest in better training and rehabilitation opportunities.

The goal is to help inmates reintegrate into society successfully, supported by highly trained staff.

During the inauguration of the learning hub, Minister for Home Affairs, Security, and Employment Byron Camilleri highlighted the government’s commitment to rehabilitation.

He emphasised that the learning hub plays a crucial role in equipping inmates with the skills needed to secure employment and lead a stable life after their release.

Chris Siegersma, CEO of the Correctional Services Agency, stressed the importance of education in rehabilitation.

He stated that by providing both academic and practical training, inmates can prepare for the job market, reducing the likelihood of reoffending and ultimately creating a safer society.
