Technical diver Lewis Mark Sell recently captured stunning footage of a bioluminescent comb jelly during an underwater expedition. The mesmerising creature, believed to be Leucothea multicornis, was observed drifting gracefully in the depths, its body shimmering with iridescent light.

Marine biologist Alan remarked, “Amazing creatures indeed… comb jellies (ctenophores), renowned for their bioluminescence and their sticky rather than stinging tentacles. This specimen could possibly be Leucothea multicornis. Filmed by technical diver Lewis Mark Sell, to whom I extend my thanks.”

Unlike jellyfish, ctenophores use sticky cells to capture prey, and their glowing appearance adds an ethereal beauty to the underwater world

On Thursday 26th June, the Sacred Heart School Class of 1975 came together for a heartfelt reunion, marking over 50 years of friendship and treasured memories.

During this special occasion, they also raised €580 in support of Puttinu Cares a local charity that provides vital support to patients and their families.

Their kindness helps us continue to provide a ‘home away from home’ for our patients and their families during their most challenging moments. Kaċċaturi u Nassaba Mostin u Ħbieb proudly announced the success of their annual BBQ fundraiser, raising an impressive €123,375 for Puttinu Cares, the charity supporting children and families battling cancer.

The event, held in Mosta, drew thousands of supporters from across Malta. What began as a small initiative by a dedicated group of hunters and trappers has grown into a major display of community spirit and generosity. This year’s total is the highest ever raised by the group.

Puttinu Cares praised the organisers for their meticulous planning and heartfelt dedication. “Impressive organisation! Thank you and congratulations to Kaċċaturi Mostin and friends for this great and flawless event. Everything was done with care, detail, and hard work, which showed in how well everything was organised. We truly appreciate your love for our patients. Puttinu Cares is proud of you and grateful for your ever-ready hearts to help.” the charity said.

Volunteers created a memorable evening filled with food, music, and goodwill, all aimed at supporting Puttinu Cares’ mission.
