The next scholastic year will see the return of a scheme which helps post-secondary student athletes continue training their respective sports with the same intensity as their studies.
This scheme is a collaboration between the National Sports School and 5 post-secondary institutes: MCAST, Junior College, Giovanni Curmi Higher Secondary, GEM16+ and the Gozo sixth form.
The scheme is not only available to prior students of the National Sports School but it is also available to athletes who are a part of their sports national team.
National Sports School head Robert Magro told TVMnews that an agreement has been reached to allow team sports training occur every Tuesday and Thursday whilst individual sports training can take place every Monday and Friday.
Clifton Grima, the Minister for Education and Sport, confirmed that the same Scheme is being used in various institutions to assure that a high sporting level is achieved. He also said that, over the years, the National Sports School has helped various young athletes progress in their career and achieve success in various sports sectors abroad.
