
An apartment block in Paceville collapsed last night, with footage and photos circulating online of the chaos that ensued.
In statements released after news broke of a apartment block collapse in St Julian’s, the Building & Construction Authority (BCA) and the Occupational Health & Safety Authority (OHSA) issued statements confirming that residents were evacuated before the collapse took place.

The BCA stated that on the 10th of June it ordered the works on the site, which was next to another building which had been demolished, to stop.
After inspections and discussions with architects involved, the decisions as taken and with then cooperation of police the residents were evacuated.
OHSA also said that inspections on the site were conducted and the same actions to ensure the safety of people were taken.
