Sarah Bajada, a local book author and TV presenter, has recently completed the second edition of her ‘Kids Figolla cookie decorating kits’ in support of Puttinu Cares, raising a generous donation of €2,000.
These kits were designed to assist parents who may be pressed for time to prepare figolli with their children, a cherished Easter tradition for many families.
Each kit contained pre-baked figolli and edible decorations, enabling parents who lack the time to bake from scratch to still enjoy quality bonding moments with their children.
In addition to fostering family connections, the kits aimed to instill in children the value of giving back to those in need. All proceeds from the sale of the kits were directed to Puttinu Cares.
Two local rowers set competition aside for a wholesome photo showing what sports is all about during yesterday’s regatta.
Clyde Cutajar for Birgu Regatta and Dennis Thornton from Bormla Regatta set an example of how true sportsmanship should look like even though they had to battle each other during Malta’s iconic Freedom Day Regatta.
Dennis Throton’s team Bormla Regatta reclaimed the Freedom Day shield after the Cottonera club triumphed in the March regatta for the 14th time, with the event rescheduled a week earlier to accommodate the holiday coinciding with Easter Sunday.
Their strong showing earned them 60 points in the main category, edging out Vittoriosa and Senglea.
Clyde’s team Birgu also known as Vittoriosa placed second with 58 points only trailing Bormla by two points.

Austria’s Christoph Baumgartner secured the fastest goal in international football history by scoring just six seconds into the match as Austria triumphed over Slovakia in Bratislava.
Baumgartner’s goal came one second faster than Lukas Podolski’s record-setting strike for Germany against Ecuador in 2013.
Baumgartner’s remarkable effort was almost equalled later on Saturday evening when Florian Wirtz put Germany ahead in France after only 7 seconds similar to Lukas Podolski’s aforementioned strike.
However the Austrian goal is not the fastest goal recorded this year as back in February, Ryan Hall of Croydon FC scored an extraordinary goal directly from kick-off during their match against Cockfosters in the London Senior Trophy. The non-league side clocked the goal at an impressive 2.31 seconds.
Austria, who will host Turkey in Vienna on Tuesday, have secured victory in their last four consecutive matches as they continue to prepare for this summer’s Euros in Germany.
