‘Sanction Israel, Free Palestine’: Sliema Protest

'Sanction Israel, Free Palestine': Sliema Protest
May 16 2024 Share

On Wednesday, activists supporting the Palestinian cause gathered on the Sliema seafront to protest against the Israeli occupation and alleged genocide in Gaza.

The demonstration, organized by Moviment Graffitti, Youth for Palestine and the Palestinian embassy, marked Nakba Day, commemorating May 15, 1948, when the state of Israel was established, leading to the displacement of hundreds of thousands of Palestinians.

Participants waved Palestinian flags and held placards demanding an end to the violence. The organisers condemned the actions, stating, “This atrocity is being committed with the support of several Western countries, including the United States, France, Britain, and Germany, which continue to back Israel in its long-standing efforts to occupy Palestinian lands and oppress its people.”

This also comes after a Eurovision boycott party, which raised over €1K to be split in aid between the UNRWA and Medical Aid Palestine.

After YMCA, Cotton Eye Joe came on and Lelio simply could not let the opportunity to dance to another song pass.

‘I returned to my office all sweaty’, wrote Lelio. The students had gotten accustomed to dancing in the morning assembly, but it had been a while since it took place.

Speaking with Emmanuel Cuschieri, Muscat lamented how due to his assets having been frozen due to having ‘these €30 million hanging over his head’, he cannot even enjoy watching Netflix as he’d have to declare every payment he makes.

During the interview, the former Labour leader said that the court case will end up taking time and sink into bureaucracy, but promises that his case will be the ‘tsunami that will tear down the sand castle of Egrant 2.’

Muscat also said that he feels sorry for other individuals roped into the case, such as the recently resigned Deputy Prime Minister Chris Fearne, and says that this case will led to the collapse of the Nationalist Party after ‘the truth’ emerges.

Taking to social media, Sven wrote: ‘Dear S2 islanders, now that you’re all out my only advice is that… your eye colour does not change… you are not a chameleon!’

‘Kind regards, the Chameleon’. The post racked up a whopping 1,6K likes in 12 hours.

Back during the promos for Love Island Season 1, Sven had said that one of the things girls like most was his eyes ‘which change colour as well. Sometimes they’re grey, sometimes beige.’

Sven was not the only contestant to give out advice, with Kyle Curmi urging compassion from the audience on a more serious note, reminding them that the contestants are not robots and have feelings.
