Yesterday, San Ġiljan defeated their rivals Neptunes with the score of 12-9 , leading to their victory of the President’s cup.
Although their opponents had tied the score twice in the first two sessions and had taken a two-goal lead, they then exceeded in the later rounds. The turn of events occurred, though, when they lost Jake Muscat to substitution early in the second session because their opponents had more ammunition than they did.
The first session ended all square with the lead alternating. It was balanced all the way with the centre approaches being crowded. The Reds led 5-3 after goals from Steve Camilleri and Mark Castillo in the second session.
After Jeremy Abela and Aaron Younger each scored twice to tie the game, Luigi Mallia gave Neptunes a 6-5 advantage. San Ġiljan’s Younger completed his hat-trick, and Matthew Zammit made the score 7–6. After goals from Camilleri and Dimitri Kholod for Neptunes, Jake Bonavia, Nikolai Zammit, and Ben Plumpton gave San Ġiljan the lead again. Before Camilleri concluded the game at 12-9, Gabriel Bonavia completed the victory.
