Russian Sputnik vaccine found to be 91.6% effective

Peer-reviewed medical journal The Lancet has reported that Russia’s Sputnik V vaccine was found to be 91.6% effective against symptomatic COVID-19.

The vaccine was approved by Russian authorities months before final-stage trial results were published, leading to scepticism from industry professionals. However, latest analysis of data from 20,000 phase 3 test participants suggests the vaccine’s 90% efficacy versus symptomatic COVID-19.

Independent commentators highlighted that while being primarily criticised for corner-cutting and lack of transparency, the report’s outcome is clear that the vaccine “can join the fight to reduce the incidence of COVID-19.”

€420,000 worth of cannabis found in massive drug bust

Following multiple weeks of observation, the Police Drug Drug Squad and the Rapid Intervention Unit held an anti-drug trafficking operation in Floriana and St. Paul’s Bay on Monday night.

In this operation, the police arrested four people related to the discovery of 21 kilograms of cannabis valued at €420,000.

The drug squad surrounded a van in Floriana with a 47-year-old Isla resident and a 32-year-old Italian inside, going on two find two Italians of 23 and 29 years respectively in a St. Paul’s Bay garage.

Everton Midfielder Allan gets head shaved by son suffering from alopecia

Everton midfielder Allan Marques has had his head shaved by his 9-year-old son who suffers from alopecia in a great show of support.

The Brazilian is father to three children, one of whom started suffering from the autoimmune disease at the young age of four and lost his hair as a result.

Despite Miguel not requiring treatment, he let Miguel shave his head in a selfless act of solidarity.
