Rosianne Cutajar Returns To Labour Parliamentary Group

Aug 9 2024 Share

Malta Today revealed that Rosianne Cutajar is poised to make a return to the Labour Party’s parliamentary group – a decision which was backed by Labour MPs.

This decision was made during a parliamentary group meeting on Friday afternoon and is expected to be announced at the party’s Extraordinary General Conference.

Cutajar had resigned from the party in April 2023, but despite her resignation, Cutajar has remained popular in the Qormi constituency and continues to have a significant following on social media.

Known for her liberal and progressive views, Cutajar has served as Parliamentary Secretary for Reforms, where she led efforts on a White Paper for cannabis reform. She has also been an outspoken advocate for women’s rights, particularly during recent parliamentary debates on abortion reform, where she emphasised that no Maltese woman should risk losing her life due to Malta’s restrictive abortion laws.

Inside sources have confirmed that Labour MPs are in favour of her return, as the Labour Party seeks to maintain its popularity following a significant loss of votes in the June MEP elections.
