The Malta International Airport VIP Lounge roof has collapsed due to the bad weather conditions that hit Malta today.
Malta Daily sources have confirmed that one person injured himself and was taken to Mater Dei Hospital for treatment.
MIA spokesperson confirmed that there were no major injuries.

The Minister for Gozo Clint Camilleri launched the official program of the Regional Carnival of Gozo and of the organized and spontaneous Carnival of Nadur.
The Gozo Regional Carnival will be staged from Friday 17 February to Tuesday 21 February 2023.
On Friday, Saturday, Monday and Tuesday, the Carnival will start with a parade at 6.00pm from near Villa Rundle along Triq ir-Repubblika – reaching its climax in Pjazza Indipendenza (it-Tokk). Various dance companies for adults and children will take part, together with three schools, two Gozitan and one Maltese, grotesque masks, local bands and triumphal floats. On Sunday the parade starts at 3.00pm.
The Nadur Carnival will also return.
It will start on Sunday 12 February in the Nadur Square with a five-hour program where groups from Gozo will take part and will end with the traditional koukkanja.
On the other hand the popular spontaneous Nadur Carnival will take place between the 17th and 21st of February. All kinds of costumes and masks are expected this year, including contemporary themes such as wars, political satire and more.
Minister Clint Camilleri stated that, “After an absence of two years, the spontaneous Carnival of Nadur is taking place. An event which attracts thousands of Gozitans and Maltese, and – even though it is spontaneous – it requires a lot of organization when it comes logistics and security.”
The Ministry is working hand-in-hand with the Nadur Local Council, G7 Events, and Malta Daily, so that this Carnival continues to attract these thousands of people and continues to progress and grow for years to come.
For his part, the Mayor of Nadur Edward Said said that, “The Carnival of Nadur remains among the most sought after events in the winter calendar in our country. Thousands of participants and visitors are expected to cheer and cheer with their costumes. The Local Council remains committed to doing its part so that the spontaneous Nadur Carnival is successful.”
The Minister for Gozo Clint Camilleri concluded by saying that the Ministry is committed to continue supporting activities which continue to make Gozo an attraction throughout the year.

The public has been warned to stay indoors as Malta’s precarious weather condition as a result of Storm Helios persists, with damages and flooding across the island.
Multiple events across Malta and Gozo have been cancelled, with food delivery app Wolt temporarily suspending their service whilst the Gozo Channel service has been halted between Thursday and Friday.
The anticipated storm hit Malta on Wednesday evening, cause by a depression over Algeria moving towards the Mediterranean.
Earlier today, an orange warning was issued by the Meteorological Office, with authorities urging the crowd to remain vigilant and practice caution when leaving their homes and commuting.

Gozo Minister Clint Camilleri took to social media to announce that another 200 boxes have been sent to Turkey to help the survivors of the devastating earthquake which hit Turkey and Syria.
‘The second collection of clothes, blankets and other important supplies has been packaged as it begins its way to Turkey and the damaged zones’ the Minister explained.
The Minister thanked everyone who contributed to this great cause, saying that the ministry will continue welcoming more donations until 8pm today, Thursday 9th February.
People can also donate via the Turkish Embassy in Valletta or via various other organisations collecting resources for the struggling populations.
