Jul 14 2024 Share

Tonight, Berlin hosts the highly anticipated UEFA Euro 2024 final as Spain faces England in a clash that promises to be the most thrilling game of the year.

Spain, aiming for a record fourth European title, is favoured to win according to both bookies and algorithms. Google and OptaAnalyst place Spain’s chances at 40% and 60.38%, respectively, with a draw at 33% and England’s chances at 27%.

For England, this match is an opportunity to end a 58-year trophy drought. The Three Lions, playing their first away-from-home final, are determined to lift their first Euro trophy after reaching their second consecutive final.

Seventeen-year-old Spanish sensation Lamine Yamal could make history again. Already the youngest player to appear and score in the Euros, Yamal has been pivotal to Spain’s success, contributing significantly to their tournament-leading 13 goals.

Adding to the stakes, England’s manager Gareth Southgate could receive a knighthood if his team wins. Meanwhile, new UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer hinted at the possibility of a bonus day off for the nation if England triumphs, though he remains cautious after the heartbreak of the 2021 final.

As the two football giants prepare for this epic showdown, fans around the world eagerly await what promises to be an unforgettable night.

U.S. President Joe Biden addressed the nation on Saturday evening following a shooting at former President Donald Trump’s political rally, where Trump was injured and rushed offstage. Speaking from Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, Biden condemned the violence, emphasising that “there’s no place in America for this kind of violence” and describing the incident as “sick.”

The Trump campaign confirmed that the former president was “fine” and receiving medical attention after being seen with blood on his face and ear during his evacuation by Secret Service.

The U.S. Secret Service assured the public of Trump’s safety and announced an active investigation into the shooting. Biden, who is running for reelection against Trump, expressed relief at Trump’s condition in a written statement, adding, “I’m praying for him and his family and for all those who were at the rally, as we await further information.”

One rally attendee sustained fatal injuries whilst one is in serious condition with the shooter, identified as Thomas Matthew Crooks by the FBI, is dead.
