Roberta Metsola stated on Facebook how every year before Easter she would visit Maltese kitchens and bakeries to watch the entire process of figolli production from beginning to end. Due to COVID-19 however, she has had to postpone the visits for yet another year.

Since this year Easter will have to be celebrated differently once again due to the pandemic, Metsola urged the public to support local products this Easter as their businesses are experiencing immense uncertainty. Buying their delicious products would help their businesses thrive through these trying times.

France enters three week lockdown

The French President Emmanuel Macron extended restrictions on people’s free movement and ordered a further closure of schools for three weeks. France is currently experiencing a third wave of COVID-19 infections which is straining the country’s hospitals.

The measures put in effect in Paris are being extended to the whole of France for at least one month. Macron stated on a political address that if no measures were established France would ‘lose control’ of the pandemic situation. France has experienced 95,337 deaths due to COVID-19.

Glen recently won the 2021 Maltese music festival with his song Harsa Biss. The singer brought smiles to the many students whose only contact with their classmates is online until the pandemic is further mitigated in Malta. Well done Glen!

As Malta’s temperatures seem to be ever on the increase as Summer draws nearer, people have utilised the advent of Freedom’s Day to take to the beaches and cool off. The public holiday seemed to grant people a day of sunny, not to mention hot, weather and the opportunity was seized for a swim by many.

It is however important to remember that health measures are still in place as a long weekend for many approaches. People can only be in groups of 2, unless they are from the same household. These health measures were put in place to mitigate the spread of COVID-19. It does seem nonetheless that the measures are bing adhered to as daily cases have dropped beneath 50.
