After consultations with PN Leader Bernard Grech and colleagues in the European Parliament, Metsola felt motivated to embrace this new challenge. “I recognize that this journey comes with significant obstacles, but with your support, we can succeed and ensure that our country is represented in the leadership of the European Union,” she added.

Taking to social media Prime Minister Robert Abela and Nationalist Party leader Bernard Grech wished a happy father’s day to all dads and father figures, sharing photos of their own.

The Prime Minister shared a photo of his daughter Georgia Mae with her two grandfathers with a panoramic view of Malta.

Meanwhile, the Opposition leader reflected on his father’s last words, after he had passed away in 2022.

‘In the last few days before he closed his eyes forever, my father told me, “Son, stay strong in what you believe in.” My father was of few words, but had a way of pinning you down with them.’

‘I miss you dad, but you remain a solid guide. Your few words remain in my mind and light my thoughts.’

He went on to urge people to care for their fathers and not let them experience this day, especially, alone.

‘To the father who is neglected by his children or to those who still wish to become fathers, we are working for you as well.’
