After a meeting with Malta’s teachers’ unions, Prime Minister Robert Abela has sustained the Labour Party’s promise to move towards an academic framework where homework is not required.
The Prime Minister held that he and his party will commit to debate on a “national level” with regards to the distribution of homework and students’ free time. At yesterday’s Labour Party event, Abela highlighted that it is important for youth, especially at a young age, to participate in extra-curricular activities and the homework decision may be backed by that.
Reiterating that education is one of the Labour Party’s main pillars going into the general election, Abela also pledged to see to the installation of air conditioning systems in schools across Malta and Gozo, calling it an “extensive investment” in modernising the country’s classroom.
