Malta 2nd Easiest Country To Move To For Expats, Says Research

Malta 2nd Easiest Country To Move To For Expats, Says Research
Mar 16 2024 Share

According to a report by international insurance provider William Russell and shared by The Economic Times, Hungary, Malta, and Austria are the top choices for expats looking to relocate due to their relatively easy migration processes.

Hungary stands out with a score of 3.85, low salary thresholds (€15,146), and minimal fees (€65). Malta follows closely with a score of 3.87 and a significant expat population.

Austria ranks third with a score of 3.91 and speedy processing times (eight weeks). Estonia, Germany, Latvia, and Croatia also offer welcoming environments for expats.

Conversely, India, Australia, and Finland are noted as the most challenging countries for emigration. Factors affecting the difficulty of relocation include expat population, recommended vaccines, work visa fees, minimum earnings thresholds, processing times, and language proficiency tests.

Waiting for application processing is particularly arduous, with wait times fluctuating; for instance, the Government of Canada reports a 41-week wait for UK residents seeking temporary work permits.

Language proficiency tests are mandatory in some countries like Australia, Canada, and the UK, while others may require proficiency for specific job roles. Failure to meet language requirements can hinder visa approval, as many applications and documentation are in the local language.
