Residents Evacuated Before St Julian’s Apartment Block Collapse

In statements released after news broke of a apartment block collapse in St Julian’s, the Building & Construction Authority (BCA) and the Occupational Health & Safety Authority (OHSA) issued statements confirming that residents were evacuated before the collapse took place.

The BCA stated that on the 10th of June it ordered the works on the site, which was next to another building which had been demolished, to stop.

After inspections and discussions with architects involved, the decisions were taken, and with the cooperation of police the residents were evacuated.

OHSA also said that inspections on the site were conducted and the same actions to ensure the safety of people were taken.

Videos sent to this newsroom show the building having collapsed, with disciplined forces on site attending to the situation.

Teddy Teuma Gets Maltese Cross Tattoo By Local Artist

Renowned Maltese born footballer Teddy Teuma had a tattoo of the Maltese cross done on his leg at a local tattoo artist.

The footballer, who represents Malta with the national team and plays as a midfielder for Ligue 2 club Reims, linked up with artist Matt Aquilina to get inked up – and the result was an astounding representation of everything Teuma embodies.

Along with a Maltese cross, the tattoo also has nods to football, his family and quotes urging him to defy any limits.

As thanks, Teuma signed Matt’s official Teddy Teuma card, continuing the display of mutual appreciation in more ink!

Malta’s Speaker of the House, Anġlu Farrugia, met with South Africa’s Public Protector, Advocate Kholeka Gcaleka, at Parliament this afternoon. The visit was friendly and full of important talk.

They spoke about how to protect people’s rights, make governments more open, and help democracy grow stronger. Also joining them was Malta’s own Ombudsman, Judge Emeritus Joseph Zammit McKeon.
