If you are considerably over 18 years of age, you may or may not remember the massive storm that hit the Maltese islands 18 years ago. Maltese weather page ‘It-Temp Madwarna’ shared a few pictures from local Michael Zammit which show the Marsa whereabouts during the storm.

The storm had heavy thunder during the entire night and part of the following morning, with 9 inches (or 228mm) of rain in central areas of the country.

Wasteful Inter concede last minute goal to lose to Real Madrid

Sep 16 2021 Share

Yesterday night, Inter welcomed Spanish super club Real Madrid to Milan in their first Champions League game of the season. The game was very close throughout the 90 minutes until the last minute where all Inter Milan fans hearts broke as Rodrygo scored again a late winner, similar to his goal against Inter last year.

The game started off well for the Nerazzuri bossing possession and creating plenty of chances for themselves, chances they couldn’t convert. Inter player and man of the match Marcelo Brozovic even admitted in a post match interview saying “We played too well in the first half, it had to be 3-0 minimum”.

The second half started very differently to the first. Real Madrid were the creators and on the front foot whilst Inter relied on defenders Milan Skriniar and Stefan De Vrij to control the defence. Inter’s substitutions set them back as their rhythm was quickly forgotten and gone. With Real Madrid on the front foot Rodrygo found the opening goal late on in the game in the 89th minute to shatter Nerazzuri hearts.

Tunnel lights to be adjusted following social media backlash

Tunnel lights to be adjusted following social media backlash
Sep 16 2021 Share

Following a significant amount of negative reactions from the recently-installed high-powered LED lights in Malta’s four major tunnels, Infrastructure Minister Ian Borg has stated that the intensity of the lights will be adjusted.

The tunnels had been commissioned for a massive overhaul in 2018, with an upgrade and analysis analysis of fire safety, visibility, security and emergency systems currently underway. A major part of the tunnels’ renovation works was the switch from considerably dim, dated lights to the new high-powered LED system, which system created somewhat of a stir on social media for being too intense for drivers, especially during the night.

Minister Borg reported that the final phase of the project is currently in progress, with one of the main tasks being the regulation of light intensity, which brightness is also said to change according to the time of day.

What do you think of the new lights?
