Emmy-winning actor and star of Squid Game season 1, Lee Jung-jae, has revealed that the long awaited second season of the show will be released on Netflix in December 2024.
The survival thriller that took the world by storm has reportedly countless more stories to tell, including resolving the end of season one where Lee’s character Gi-hun goes back hoping to stop the twisted competition.
That cliffhanger has remained unanswered for over two years, but recent remarks confirm that the wait for new episodes is almost over.
While promoting his new role in the Star Wars tv show The Acolyte, Lee confirmed to Business Insider that the second season of Squid Game would be premiering in the end of the year.
The upcoming installment of Squid Game will carry forward the premise of the first season, featuring a new group of contestants willing to risk their lives in deadly games for a chance to win a 45.6 billion won cash prize.
However, as shown in the Squid Game season 2 preview, Gi-hun has completely abandoned his plans to reunite with his daughter in the United States. Instead, he is now determined to seek revenge against the mysterious organization behind the games.
