May 14 2023 Share

Today, on Mother’s Day, local rapper Ben Miller has released a new song titled “Number 1” to express his love and gratitude towards his mother. The song, which was written in just over a week, is a heartfelt tribute to the woman who has been his constant support and inspiration throughout his life.

In “Number 1,” Ben Miller shares his childhood memories of dealing with health complications and frequent hospital visits. He acknowledges the challenges his mother faced during those years, with doctors and others doubting her instincts and calling her an “obsessive” mom. Despite the criticism, Ben’s mother never gave up on her son and fought tirelessly for his health and well-being.

The music video for “Number 1” features old footage of Ben and his mother, including a clip of them boarding a plane for London where he underwent a heart operation at Great Ormand Street Hospital when he was just five years old. The video also showcases Ben’s creativity and artistry, with Dru, his main videographer, bringing his vision to life with stunning visuals.

Throughout the song, Ben Miller expresses his appreciation for his mother’s unwavering love and support. He sings about how she has been his number one fan and has always been there for him through thick and thin. The lyrics are honest and heartfelt, conveying a deep sense of gratitude and admiration for his mother.

One of the standout lines in the song is “scream the words to everglow,” a reference to his mother’s favorite Coldplay song, which she also has as her phone ringtone. This line is a testament to the special bond between a mother and her child, and how music can bring people together and create lasting memories.

In conclusion, “Number 1” is a beautiful tribute to all mothers out there, recognizing the tireless work and dedication that goes into raising a child. Ben Miller’s new song is a touching reminder to cherish and appreciate our mothers, not just on Mother’s Day, but every day of the year.

Swedish artist Loreen has made history by becoming the first woman in history to win the Eurovision song contest twice, and only the second person ever to do so after Johnny Logan. Yesterday’s Eurovision final was a tense affair, with many of the favourites such as Finland and Israel coming close to victory. However, it was Loreen’s stunning performance that captured the hearts and votes of the audience and jury alike. Her powerful vocals and striking stage presence left a lasting impression on viewers, securing her place in Eurovision history.

Loreen’s winning song “Tattoo” is a uptempo bop, reminiscent of 2012’s “Euphoria“, that showcases her unique vocal range and emotional depth.

Meanwhile, new results published by the Eurovision Broadcasting Union have revealed that Malta placed dead last in the first semi-final, with only three points.

The Eurovision Song Contest has always been known for its surprises and upsets, and this year was no exception. In the first semi-final of the 2023 edition, Malta’s representative The Busker, with their energetic performance, failed to secure a place in the grand final, placing last with only 3 points.

Despite their positive energy and impressive vocals, it seems that The Busker’s song “Dance (Our Own Party)” failed to resonate with the voters.

The public vote in the first semi-final went to Finland’s Käärijä and their catchy hit “Cha Cha Cha”, which secured first place with an impressive 177 points. Following closely behind was Swedish artist Loreen with her song “Tattoo”, earning second place with 135 points. Israel’s Noa Kirel and Unicorn rounded out the top three with 127 points.

Whilst Malta may have missed out on a place in the grand final this year, it’s important to remember that the Eurovision Song Contest is a celebration of music and culture, and that participation is still a remarkable achievement. The Busker and Malta’s delegation should be proud of their hard work and effort, and we look forward to seeing what they have in store for us in the future.

Are you happy with this year’s Eurovision results?
